systems/technical designer whose passion lies with creating meaningful experiences for players through combat and mechanical design. Having worked on different teams in various engines and roles, new experiences do not intimidate me. I am quick to jump on opportunities that serve to reinforce my already developed game design skills, and introduce new ones.

My name is William Badger, I am an aspiring game designer hailing from Chicago IL, currently going to school at Champlain College in Burlington VT. Some of my favorite games include Soulsborne games and RTS games like Mount and Blade or Halo Wars. I love games that require planning and active thinking to succeed.

I’ve learned multiple languages before my time at Champlain, including Javascript and Ruby on Rails for software development. I’ve since learned C# and Unreal Blueprints, and how to use those languages to manipulate the game space to my needs and provide the experience I want. I have learned to do this in both 2D and 3D formats, but have enjoyed making 3D projects way more.
I have been introduced to the standards of design and the documentation that comes with it, making sure to be marking down all my steps in a cohesive way that can be understood by anyone. I have learned what makes gameplay and levels appetizing for the player and how to apply that knowledge to my own projects and for any team projects I will be on.

I want to create interesting and unique combat gameplay for players that keep them engaged or awe-inspired by the game, whether its through visual effects, accuracy, or simply the ease of use. I want to recreate the experiences I feel when I find a game with extremely enjoyable combat and make the best possible experience for the players.
